Top 5 Must-Do’s for an Exceptional Wedding Day Experience

1. Hair and Makeup Trial

Sure, you want to do a trial to make sure your makeup and hair is exactly what you envisioned.  It gives your artists a chance to make notes of the exact look you like so there’s no questioning it the day of. Besides that though, it will allow you a better idea of how much time you need to allot for yourself on the big day.  We always recommending adding a half hour to the time it took your artist so they have ample time to make you the best version of you!

2. Delegate Responsibilities to Others

You’ve planned out your whole event from start to finish, now you’re ready to enjoy right? Unfortunately, so many brides don’t divvy up jobs to their family and bridal party ahead of time. Instead, the are tethered to their phones waiting for calls and answering questions rather than being present on their wedding day.  Giving duties to family members also allows them to be an integral part of your day.

3. Make a “Family Photos” List

Speaking of family… not taking the time to  think about who you’d like pictures with makes family photos extremely stressful. Think about all those people who have made you you, then give that list to your photographer.  They will help you come up with combinations of family photos to make sure that Grandma June, with the bad hip, isn’t in and out of numerous combinations.  This also gives you a chance to talk about your family dynamics with your photographer.

4. Make a Wedding Day Timeline

And speaking of making a list, don’t forget to meet with your photographer about a month beforehand to make your wedding day timeline.  This gives you enough time to inform all your vendors of when you expect them to arrive, to give your family the correct time for family portraits, and to see what needs to be done at what time so you can appropriately delegate the different responsibilities.

5. Take Engagement Pictures

Picture This!  You and your husband are madly in love, looking forward to the celebration you’ve planned for your families, but the day of the wedding you and your photographer don’t quite…click.  They are going too fast, or too slow, or you think they aren’t capturing your good side.  The best way to feel great about your photos before the big day is to spend some time with your photographer beforehand at engagement photos.  Engagement photos serve many purposes; from posing to pacing to talking it all roles into this; you’ll be more comfortable the day of if you take the time beforehand to take engagement photos.

WELCOME

Hi, I’m Dereck!  For me, my “why” has always been people focused. My goal in life is to make a positive impact in the lives of the people I’m around every day. I love the fact that I am blessed to spend my time with soon to be brides and grooms who are about to embark on a lifetime journey of their own. That my friend is a huge honor and blessing! My goal through this process as your Photographer is to impact your life beyond the lens of my camera. I love capturing magical moments that pop-up throughout this process, but I love just as deeply to speak into the lives of people like yourself. I love being able to help you focus on what is truly important during this journey and letting the other non-sensical things take care of themselves.
